Engage John Differently

Word, Life, Light
Encounter Jesus as the eternal Word who became flesh, bringing grace and truth to the world.

About the Gospel of John

The Gospel of John invites readers to see Jesus with eyes of faith and hearts open to divine mystery. Unlike the other Gospels, John begins not with Bethlehem but with eternity—“In the beginning was the Word.” He presents Jesus as the eternal Son who reveals the Father, speaking words that give life and performing signs that reveal glory. John writes so that we may believe that Jesus is the Messiah and that by believing we may have life in His name. Through intimate conversations and powerful declarations, this Gospel draws readers into personal encounter with Christ—the Light of the world, the Bread of life, the Good Shepherd, and the Resurrection and the Life.

Structure and Design

John’s twenty-one chapters are arranged around seven signs and seven “I Am” statements that reveal Jesus’ identity. Chapters 1–12 portray His public ministry and the revelation of His glory through miracles and teaching. Chapters 13–17 focus on private instruction to His disciples, centered on love, service, and unity through the Spirit. Chapters 18–21 recount the Passion, resurrection, and restoration of Peter, calling all believers to follow. The book’s design invites deep reflection, presenting truth not only to understand but to believe.

Significance

The Gospel of John reveals Jesus as God’s ultimate self-expression—grace and truth embodied for humanity’s salvation. It invites readers to move beyond curiosity to commitment, from knowing about Jesus to knowing Him personally. Every encounter recorded in John’s Gospel still speaks: “Come and see.” The message is timeless—light still shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.
